Gravure idols (gurabia aidoru) are a special breed of models that work only in Japan ranging from a variety of media such as photo albums, magazine, CD/DVD movies. In Japanese culture, these idols or models are (usually female) in their teenage years and early twenties who are considered particulaly sexy, pretty and with a decent breast size.

They usually appear ranging from several months to a few years depending on their popularity Usually related to swimsuit modelling which is done wearing 3-piece bikini, uniforms and in lingerie. The usual set pieces that many gravure models perform, posing in room with a variety of clothing, the most common one is bikini and lingerie and focus on the wet look, wearing school uniforms focusing on their innocent youth.

Sometimes, they even venture out to different countries to provide a different sexy feel for their project. There are some fetish themes such as martial arts, office lady and superheroines from cosplay.
